PICC Learning Pathway for Neonatal Patients
This course provides complete education to meet the didactic requirements of PICC training for neonatal and infants. The focus of this training is inserting PICCs for neonates and newborn infants to approximately 6 months of age.
Adding ultrasound guidance to an existing PICC program increases the rate of successful insertions to an average of greater than 90%. This short program is for the beginner user and covers the basics of the ultrasound.
Learning to use ultrasound to aid critical thinking for vein selection is the essence of this program. In this course we focus on ultrasound use for PICC placement at the bedside, specifically vessel identification and visualization to aid needle access.
This program teaches techniques that increase insertion success rates using ultrasound guidance for PICC insertions.
