Become a CNPI Certified Neonatal PICC Inserter and elevate your expertise in Neonatal PICC placement. CNPI credentials validate your advanced knowledge and practice in this specialized field. Please note that while CNPI certification acknowledges your proficiency, it does not independently verify competency. Competency is determined by your employer or preceptor. Eligibility Requirements:
- Minimum one year of practice with neonatal population
- Proof of PICC Insertion training (minimum of 8 hours)
- Documented current supervised insertion (within the last 60 days) using competency checklist to confirm adherence to industry standards and guidelines
- Minimum of six successful neonatal PICC insertions (performed within the last 12 months), documented by the signature of a supervisor
- Current professional license

Renewing the Certified Neonatal PICC Inserter (CNPI)
Use of the CNPI is valid for three years from the date of issue. Your CNPI Certification must be renewed every 3 years with proof of 6 hours of continuing education related to vascular access (2 hours per year) and proof of six successful insertions per year performed for a total of 18 insertions in the three-year renewal period. Current professional license.
Examination
The CNPI test consists of a 100-question multiple-choice 3-hour remote proctored exam.
Technical Requirements
PICC Excellence uses an independent exam proctoring service, Remote Proctor Now. Your PC will need to be running Windows 10 or later or if a MAC, OSX 10.14 or later. A webcam and reliable Internet service are required. Google Chrome is the recommended browser.
